About us

RDB Safety Boat & Waterways Maintenance is a family run firm specialising in the supply of safety boat services to the construction industry alongside providing regular ongoing maintenance and cleaning services to your marina, dock or waterside environment.

Roger Butt

Roger started working on the water as a 15 year old in the merchant navy working the petrol tankers from Swansea to Sharpness.  Should you be lucky enough to spend some time with Roger, like any old sea dog, he will entertain you with stories and tales from his past!

Roger is a first aid appointed person, and has many waterways qualifications including the accolade of once being the youngest pilot on the River Severn.  Roger has now retired and acts as a consultant as and when required.

Matt Simkins

Matt is developing the business into various new fields, such as supplying mobile working platforms.  From his early career in leisure, as a lifeguard and swimming teacher through to his HND from the Maritime college of Warsash, part of what is now Solent University.  During previous employment, Matt was responsible for managing the Health & Safety as well as the machinery and plant involved with running a local authority leisure centre.

Matt is qualified to St Johns first aid at work (3 day) and qualified for the use of automated external defibrillation, as well as the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, Foundation in Workplace Health & Safety and level 2 Risk Assessment

Tom Bebber

Tom has been working alongside Matt since leaving Hartpury College after studying for a BTec Advanced in rugby.  Following on from several dislocated shoulders, he's now concentrating on Golf.  As a Junior he won the accolade of England Golf Junior Team Club Champions, where he shot the lowest score over two days.  He currently plays off a handicap of 4.

Tom uses his age to great advantage whilst clambering up river banks, and the more inaccessible places.  He's considering undertaking a climbing course to further increase the services that we can offer.

The future

The aim of any good business is to grow and mature on a stable footing, balancing the needs of the business with exceeding the customers expectations.  The future will be safe with knowledge handed down through the family.
